In a ceremony that received virtually no attention in the American media, the United States and Canada signed a military agreement Feb. 14 allowing the armed forces from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a domestic civil emergency, even one that does not involve a cross-border crisis.

The agreement, defined as a Civil Assistance Plan, was not submitted to Congress for approval, nor did Congress pass any law or treaty specifically authorizing this military agreement to combine the operations of the armed forces of the United States and Canada in the event of a wide range of domestic civil disturbances ranging from violent storms, to health epidemics, to civil riots or terrorist attacks.

In Canada, the agreement paving the way for the militaries of the U.S. and Canada to cross each other's borders to fight domestic emergencies was not announced either by the Harper government or the Canadian military, prompting sharp protest.

"It's kind of a trend when it comes to issues of Canada-U.S. relations and contentious issues like military integration," Stuart Trew, a researcher with the Council of Canadians told the Canwest News Service. "We see that this government is reluctant to disclose information to Canadians that is readily available on American and Mexican websites."

The military Civil Assistance Plan can be seen as a further incremental step being taken toward creating a North American armed forces available to be deployed in domestic North American emergency situations.

The agreement was signed at U.S. Army North headquarters, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, by U.S. Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, commander of NORAD and U.S. Northern Command, or USNORTHCOM, and by Canadian Air Force Lt. Gen. Marc Dumais, commander of Canada Command.

"This document is a unique, bilateral military plan to align our respective national military plans to respond quickly to the other nation's requests for military support of civil authorities," Renuart said in a statement published on the USNORTHCOM website.

A PREGNANT woman in Papua New Guinea who was hung from a tree after being accused of sorcery gave birth to her baby while struggling to free herself.

Nolan Yekum and her husband Paul were dragged from their house and hung from a tree by fellow tribesmen who accused them of sorcery after the couple's neighbour suddenly died.

Their ordeal occurred in Kilip village near Banz in Western Highlands Province, PNG's newspaper The National reported today.The woman and her baby girl, her third child, were doing well in Mt Hagen Hospital after two weeks in hiding, the report said.

Her husband said men entered their house in the middle of the night with a rope and tied it round their necks, accusing them of sorcery over their neighbour's death.They were dragged outside and hung from a tree, he said.

"We managed to loosen the noose to get our feet on the ground ... we were able to free ourselves."My wife, who was about seven months pregnant, delivered the baby while struggling to free herself."It was a painful experience for me and her,"

Mr Yekum said.He said he pleaded with villagers to wait for his neighbour's post-mortem examination and he accused local police of failing to act.

The couple denied practising sorcery.

Bhutto died from a skull fracture suffered when her head slammed against her car during a suicide attack—not from bullet wounds, the government said Friday.

State police say a teacher at Booth Free School barricaded herself in a classroom Wednesday when she mistook someone singing a Guns N' Roses song over the public address system for a threat.

She was working after hours and thought no one else was in the building.
Then she heard someone say over the loudspeaker that she was going to die.
Six troopers and three police dogs showed up and found three teenagers, one of them a custodian at the school, who had been playing with the public address system.
Police say one of them sang "Welcome to the Jungle" into the microphone.

World's First HDTV Images of the Moon (JAXA) Deep Purple

Japan's Kaguya probe, now in lunar orbit, recently beamed back the first ever high-definition video footage of the moon's surface. The clip consists of two sequences—one shot over the northern part of Oceanus Procellarum toward the Moon's north pole; the other is a fly over of the western side of Oceanus Procellarum.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) have successfully performed the world's first high-definition image taking by the lunar explorer "KAGUYA" (SELENE,) which was injected into a lunar orbit at an altitude of about 100 km on October 18, 2007, (Japan Standard Time. Following times and dates are all JST.)

The image shooting was carried out by the onboard high definition television (HDTV) of the KAGUYA, and it is the world's first high definition image data acquisition of the Moon from an altitude about 100 kilometers away from the Moon.

The image taking was performed twice on October 31. Both were eight-fold speed intermittent shooting (eight minutes is converged to one minute.) The first shooting covered from the northern area of the "Oceanus Procellarum" toward the center of the North Pole, then the second one was from the south to the north on the western side of the "Oceanus Procellarum." The moving image data acquired by the KAGUYA was received at the JAXA Usuda Deep Space Center, and processed by NHK.

The satellite was confirmed to be in good health through telemetry data received at the Usuda station.

sightings than any other country. And for that the mexicans are far more open minded than any of us, Which makes you wonder if that is part of the reason for so many sightings!

The Timeless Rock super group Kansas are on tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their progresive rock masterpiece album
"Point of Know Return"...

On Saturday October 13th 2007, they stopped by Fall for Greenville in Upstate South Carolina to play for a much appreciative crowd of thousands.

I was lucky enough to stumble right up to the left side speakers of the set, moments before Kansas took the stage.
I have to tell you, it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen,
and I've seen a lot of them.

Kansas sounds better than ever.

All but the most naive would accept that U.S. casualty figues in Iraq, both dead and injured, are being deliberately underreported, but a story circulating that 73,000 have died is a complete hoax and its advocates are disseminating harmful disinformation.

The worst of the bunch is probably this website, which claims that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs issued a report "confirming 73,000 U.S. troops killed in Iraq."

If you actually read the report it becomes clear that the figure represents how many veterans, whether retired or active duty, have died since the first Gulf War in 1990 - from any cause and not solely as a result of fighting in Iraq. The figure is merely a rough head count of how many veterans are still living compared to those that have died since 1990.

Indeed, over 55,000 of the deaths are listed under the ERA category - which means they were never even deployed to Iraq during their militay service.

The fact that 73,000 veterans have died since 1990 does not mean that they were all killed while fighting in Iraq and to report such an assertion is to disseminate a deliberate hoax.

This disinformation is harmful to those who are seriously trying to verify if the Pentagon's death toll figures are accurate and will only be used by Neo-Cons as ammunition to claim that people who question troop casualty figures are all using flawed data and skewing figures.
